Personal Statement:

After holding senior training and development management positions at the British Airports Authority and Sun Life, John spent ten years running a successful management consultancy business before joining Bath Spa in September 2006.

He is a keen writer, and has written over 20 books on a range of topics including business strategy, e-business, creative thinking,career management, and organisational behaviour. He has also contributed articles to a number of publications, including Business Voice, The Observer, and even Cosmopolitan!

He holds an MSc in Management Development and Training from the University of Bristol, where he has been an Associate Lecturer since 1994. He also teaches IT Management on Manchester Business School's International MBA programme.

Over the past 12 years, he has given career guidance and support to over 2,000 people, from senior directors to front line staff. He has particular expertise in self employment and work-life balance issues.

John has particular expertise in the areas of business start-up, self-employment and work-life balance. He is course leader for the recently launched MA in Creating and Developing Your Business.

Current Scholarship:

John has been an Associate Tutor at the University of Bristol since 1994, during which time he has taught on the University's MBA programme, its MSc in Management Development and Organisational Change, and its MSc in Strategic Management. Courses taught: Organisational Behaviour, Managing Creativity, Business Strategy, and IT Management

He has been a Workshop Director on Manchester Business School's Distance Learning MBA since 2003, teaching IT Management. During this time, he has delivered the workshop in the following locations: Manchester, Dublin, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Miami, and Singapore.

Other External Roles:

John has been a dissertation supervisor at Masters level for the University of Bristol since 1996. He also supervises projects by final year MBA students at Manchester Business School.
